Paola: Since its appearance, the airplane has impacted society in many ways, it has helped to reduce distances around the world, and with this, it have allowed improve the communication and transportation speed, two fields that affect every single aspect of our modern life, between these feeding, education, health and so on. But, which has it been evolution of the airplane through history? Well, I’ll tell you, and I’m sure you didn’t know some curious facts about it.
Paola: Let’s check some important events in the evolution of this extraordinary invention.
1804-The first winged aircraft was made by George Cayley in England.
1896-The first steam-powered airdromes were made by Samuel Langley. It was unmanned, and it flew for about a half mile.
1901-The first gasoline-powered model was buliding by Langley for his airdromes 1903-Orville and Wilbur Wright made the first successful manned flights near Kitty Hawk in North Carolina.
1910-Eugene Ely decided invented the aircraft carriers.
1914-Many advances were made at World War I, including faster and lighter planes
1918-Airmail is created.
1919-The US Navy made some of the first flights across the Atlantic Ocean.
1925-New lightweight, air cooled engines were created. This made the airplanes run better and faster.
1927-Charles Lindbergh flies across the Atlantic ocean alone. He flew from New York to Paris by himself.
1933-The first passenger planes are made. It could seat up to 10 people.
1939-The first radars are developed.
1952-Pilots and engineers in California tested a theory called the area rule. Using it, they were able to make faster airplanes without using bigger engines.
1969-The first larger passenger jets are made.
1990-B-2 Bombers are developed in 1990's.During the 90's engineers invented planes using non-metal materials that couldn't be detected by radar. Shortly after that, the stealth planes were invented.
Paola: Today the production of bigger and better airplanes continues, some of the challenges that the next generation of airplanes must face include reducing noise pollution from airplane engine, maintaining accessibility to the public, creating a fun experience for the user and making the airplane engine friendly to the environment. Anyway, today we only can speculate about the evolutionary future of the airplane, and his impact in our lives.

Yes, Juan Diego. Remember it’s our new section. So, all Fridays I’m going to talk about of some technological invention. Today, I’m going to talk about of cellphones evolution.
So, this amazing machine was invented at the beginning of the Second World War by Motorola. The first “cellphone” was the radiophone: “Handie Talkie H12-16” and it only used for remote communication.
Still, the father of the cellphones was Martín Cooper, who created the first cellphone in 1973. He did the first call on April of that year and called the cellphone: DynaTAC8000x. Until 1982, this cellphone began to sell around the world. This cellphone was the first generation of this machine. It was very big and heavy, because it weighed 1 kilo and also its battery was discharged too fast.
After this amazing invention, In 90's came the second generation. For example, in 1991, Sony Ericsson created their cellphone "NMT900" that was very similar than the first, but it incorporated more applications, like the messages and improved sound quality. Also, in this years appeared GSM, the global system for mobile communication that made the change because improved the communication with digital communication.
In our century, have appeared other kinds of "cellphones". Cellphones that are smaller, digital, that look better and that have more applications. But also, have appeared different systems to communicate, for example: GPRS that is General Packet Radio Service, EDGE, Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution, 3G and 4G, that were more quickly.
But to summarize, I will tell you some important dates to remember that:
• 1996: The first clamshell handset that also had vibrate function • 2000: The first cellphone that had an internal antenna • 2001: The first Japanese cellphone that had an internal camera • 2007: The first multi-touchscreen phone that was Apple • 2013: Appeared in Colombia the 4G System

We use the internet when we need help even with education, and it makes our life very simple and faster. Opening a book and looking for the answer is much slower than just typing the question and searching it. The internet is the greatest invention of our time. we will support our theory in the following paragraphs. Firstly, the internet provides enormous amount of information. Everyone can find all types of information on millions of topics. That way they can find data for their work or school projects. Also, people are able to find information on every subject they are interested in. Moreover, with searching engines like “Google” and “Yahoo Search” it’s even easier for them to find the exact information they are looking for. However, this easy access to so much information can sometimes be dangerous. For example, someone could search the web to find a way to build a bomb. This kind of information, if not in the right hands, can be very dangerous. Secondly, people are using the internet for communication. People can participate in social networks like “Facebook” or “Twitter”. Also, there are millions of chat rooms and even dating sites. Communication through the internet is easy and available to everyone with a computer. With it, people can keep in touch with their friends in distance, or make new ones. Last but not least, we want to say that the invention of the internet could not be even possible without some earlier inventions and discoveries. As we said above every invention has its time. First it was the discovery of fire, then the invention of the wheel. Later it was the electricity, the telegraph and the computer. All this led to the invention of the internet. It can be concluded that, there are many great inventions, every one of them important for its time. The internet, even with its flaws, is the most important invention of our modern time.
The cell phone goes back to the beginnings of World War II , which already saw that the distance communication was necessary. Martin Cooper , a pioneer and considered the father of the cell phone , made the first radio telephone between 1970 and 1973 in the U.S., and in 1979 the first systems for sale in Tokyo appeared. The first to use them were businessmen, executives and staff with high purchasing power .
The evolution of the mobile phone has reduced its size and weight , since the first mobile phone in 1983 which weighed 780 grams. Currently there are more compact and better performing service equipment. The development of smaller and longer lasting batteries , sharper and with more colorful screens , incorporating more easy to use software makes the mobile phone an item prized in modern life.
From ancient times to the present day communication plays an important role in societies as it allows the relationship between individuals, companies and societies. With the development and urbanization of countries and cities , the need to be communicated more about each other became larger .
The advancement of technology has made these devices incorporate features that not long ago appeared futuristic , like games, MP3 music playback , email, SMS , digital photography and video , video calling , web browsing and even digital TV.
That is why the cell phone has had a big reception in the world , making almost a cell exists for every person on the planet.
